Funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of Healthy Homes and Lead Hazard Control, the City of Syracuse Lead Hazard Control Program provides qualified homeowners and landlords financial assistance to help reduce lead paint hazards in houses located in the City of Syracuse. Many, many children in Syracuse have measurably-better blood lead levels than would have been true without these folks’ work.
We produced a web-based Ruby on Rails application on which the program maintains information about the millions of dollars of funding it must track. Property details, child and adult occupant demographics, lead testing resulting, contractor data, and financial information are stored in the system, allowing for easy generation of reports and one-click generation of legal loan-closing documents.
